In a dim and distant past, I used to be a barn dance caller (!), and raised quite a sum for my local theatre group. Recently I’ve been asked to do it again, and quite enjoyed it. So -
If there’s anyone out there looking for something different at their party or fund raiser, I’d be [...]

On Monday my stepmum bought a brand new car. As she was driving it home, someone ran into the back of her. She’d had it no more than 10 minutes!! Fortunately it was a slight bump at a junction; no one was hurt and the car wasn’t damaged. Even so…is this a record??
Every so often - basically when the mood takes us - we decide to have summer party in our cul-de-sac. It’s a pretty low key, spontaneous affair. We get in a few casks of real ale, I make a summer punch, there’s music, quizzes, and barbecues - and that’s it. Here’s some photos of this [...]

David and Nathan really getting into it now…Nathan has ridden to Uttoxter (about 50 miles), and this week David did Macclesfield and back, only 23 miles, but with some serious hills. Now they both have a better idea of what lies ahead….
So…lasst weekend, during the glorious weather, Caroline and I, and a couple of friends, did a 10 mile round walk based on Bakewell, and taking in Chatsworth House.
Nathan has just returned from a weekend’s golfing holiday in Kendal, and tonight David is off to see Oasis at Heaton Park. Aparently last night the sound failed, [...]
Writing this on Bank Holiday Monday. For once the weather has been tremendous, so it’s a weekend of being in the garden. Tidying, then sitting, then the barbie…first time this year. As I write this, Nathan has just completed a 50-mile bike ride to Uttoxeter, and David is with a group of friends camping in [...]
