Reading: ‘My Voice Will Go With You’ - a brilliant ‘textbook’ on the teaching tales of Milton Erikson. Erikson was a leading psychotherapist, and one of the inspirations behind NLP, as someone studied by Bandler and Grinder. This book shows how Erikson worked, and how you might use some of these techniques yourself…
Watching: American TV [...]
What a week! I love going to live events, and this past week has seek a real overload of riches:
Sunday: Wembley Bowl with David and two friends. This is the annual American Football game, between two top American sides - this year the New England Patriots (my team) v the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. [...]
Reading: Raise your game, by Peter Shaw, but selfishly, only because I get a mention….
Watching: went to see The Proclaimers last night, at the Apollo in Manchester. Brilliant, as usual.
Listening: As you may know, I’m a fan of ‘House MD’, and I think the music they choose, particularly to close, is brilliant. I’ve tracked [...]
Reading: Wordweaving - the Science of Suggestion, by Trevor Silvester. Also ‘Raise Your Game’ by Peter Shaw (a selfish choice, because he refers to an article of mine…!!(
Listening: The Beatles - because Nathan bought ‘The Beatles Rock Band’ for Wii, and it’s terrific. Now up to ‘medium’ on the guitar for most tracks - rock [...]
Reading: Churchill’s Wizards - all about the history and art of deception and camouflage in war. Trouble is, I put it down somewhere and now can’t find it…..
Listening: I’m a fan of ‘House’ the TV series starring Hugh Laurie. They always play excellent music on it, usually at the end, almost always by (relatively) unknown [...]
Reading: Just finished Le Carre’s ‘A Most Wanted Man’ - very readable and topical.
Watching: The Eagles last weekend - stupendous as ever. On a smaller scale, been along to Manchester’s ‘Tapas Fantasticas’ - a weekend of Spanish rioja wine and tapas, sampled in Albert Square. Really good - very well organised, and of course, great [...]
Reading: off on my hols this week, so will take le Carre’s ‘A Most Wanted Man’ and ‘Do Polar Bears Get Lonely?’.
Watching: saw ‘The Eagles’ last night at the MEN Arena. They were outstanding - Joe Walsh was on top form, both as someone from a different planet, and as as one of the top [...]
This month sees the 40th anniversary of man’s first landing on the moon - 20 July, 1969. I was an avid follower of the space programme - everytime I hear ‘Also Sprach Zarathustra’ I can hear James Burke’s voice and see the opening credits, and see the sun rise and the Apollo rockets lift into [...]
Watching: Went to the ‘Take That’ concert at Old Trafford cricket ground last night. We got absolutely drenched, standing for an hour in a torrential downpour (after all…an outdoor concert in Manchester…??) - but it was brilliant and very spectacular. They are a terrific band, and the show was a visual feast too - loads [...]
R: Just finished reading the Dam Busters - an oral history built from the stories of those who were there. Intest in this was stimulated by my recent visit to the Derwent Dam, which was used as a practice ground ahead of the real thing
W: On TV - as well as ‘24′ and ‘The Apprentice’, [...]
