Parades and fun fairs…

Another great day out yesterday. We were in Knutsford, to see the May Day parade. Great weather, great food (we had a great vantage point for much of it from the front window of a local Thai restaurant), great costumes, magnificent shire horses, and of course, lots of colourful costumes. Then, later in the afternoon, to the travelling fun fair, pitched on the common. One half was quieter, clearly for families and youngsters. The other half would rival many theme parks - noisy, pounding, and lots of big rides with the machinery right in your face. Being far more compact than the big static theme parks, the sense of power and even menace is more exaggerated. And the (mainly) teenage kids were loving it. Great for a browse, to feel the buzz, even if you don’t like the rides. And there’s always the toffee apples….
