Reading, watching, listening…
Reading: off on my hols this week, so will take le Carre’s ‘A Most Wanted Man’ and ‘Do Polar Bears Get Lonely?’.
Watching: saw ‘The Eagles’ last night at the MEN Arena. They were outstanding - Joe Walsh was on top form, both as someone from a different planet, and as as one of the top guitarists ever. Don Henley has a fantastic voice, and the harmonies of the band were fabulous. ‘Hotel California’ was the third number in, and it ws a privilege to see and hear one of the great pop and rock tracks live, in all its glory.
Listening: Caroline and I are fans of ‘House, MD’ - if you’ve not seen it, get the DVD for series 1, and take it from there…..Hugh Laurie is magnificent. Anyway, I’ve always enjoyed the music they play - particularly at the end of each programme. It’s always different, usually a solo accoustic vocalist, and, infuriatingly, it’s never credited. So I went onto the web this week, found a ‘House MD’ fan site, and asked the question - and guess what - I now have all the titles to all the tracks. (how amazing is the web….??) So I’ve had a great week using ’spotify’ (tremendous free music site - if you love music, this is the site for you) to track down the playlist - and here are my favourites so far….
- Rainy Day Lament - Joe Purdy
- Desire - Ryan Adams
- Colours - Amos Lee
- As I’m Leaving - David Gray
- Delecate - Damien Rice
- Orange Sky - Alexi Murdoch
More later…..
