Heard about Sharrow Bay, on Ullswater, most of my life, as one of the best restaurants in England. So, as it’s Caroline’s birthday this weekend, and we were visiting my stepmum in Cumbria, I decided to treat us all. It isn’t cheap, but it is fabulous. An appetiser and 6 courses, all sumptuous, in wonderful surroundings. A once-in-a-lifetime meal for me…

As a bonus, you might get to meet someone famous. Eating at the next table to ours was a famous ex-England footballer and England manager….
